From Carnival Cruise Line to Royal Caribbean International, there are plenty of cruising options out there.

And for the foodie at heart, there’s now more reason than ever to embark upon a trip at sea. For better or worse, celebrity chefs are making their mark on the cruising industry with restaurants of their own.

So, which ones have put their culinary stamp of approval where? Time to find out.

1. Thomas Keller: Seabourn

Thomas Keller is the mind behind some of the most famous restaurants of our time, including the Michelin-starred Per Se, The French Laundry, and Bouchon. And now, he can add chef-at-sea to his resume, too. Because when the luxury cruise line was interested in upping their game, they knew just whose door to knock on.

According to Seabourn President Richard Meadows, “There is really no chef more accomplished or held to a higher esteem than Chef Keller, and we are both honored and delighted to have a restaurateur of his stature take our onboard culinary offerings to an even higher level.”

What, you mean they didn’t take Guy Fieri into consideration? We kid. However, the cruise line that does love Fieri is up next.

2. Guy Fieri: Carnival Cruise Line

Leave it to the cruise line that appeals to the most general mass market of people to team up with the one and only Guy Fieri. Could Carnival really find no one else who was interested in backing a burger joint? Well, apparently not, because here we are. And the worst part is, Fieri has not only one, but two restaurants on board. Yikes.

The first is Guy’s Burger Joint, which the cruise line’s website describes as a “cool poolside spot” where customers can try a “fresh-off-the-grill burger Guy’s way, or take it off-road to our toppings bar.” And if that’s not enough, there’s Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, where “Guy’s doin’ his authentic, real-deal barbecue,” featuring “rockin’ sides like Mac Daddy Mac n Cheese.”

On second thought, it seems like Fieri and Carnival may be a match made in heaven after all. We, however, would rather walk the plank than take this trip to Flavortown any day.

3. Curtis Stone and Princess Cruises

Aboard Princess Cruises, the main dining room treats passengers to dishes “Crafted by Curtis Stone,” in addition to a more intimate, upscale experience for those interested in a multi-course meal. Available on three of the line’s cruise ships — Ruby Princess, Emerald Princess, and Sun Princess — Share is Stone’s six-course, family-dining-room-table style concept that claims to be “one of the most acclaimed dining experiences at sea.” Using only the freshest ingredients and the finest wines, Stone’s vision comes to life at this impressive on-board restaurant.

4. Jamie Oliver: Royal Caribbean

Everyone loves The Naked Chef. And passengers traveling on Royal Caribbean cruise ships can now enjoy his fare at sea. Serving up fresh, rustic, homemade favorites, Jamie’s Italian by Jamie Oliver can be found on Anthem of the Seas. And it’s the perfect place to get your pasta fix while on board.

5. Michael Schwartz: Royal Caribbean

James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz takes his culinary chops from land to sea at Michael’s Genuine Pub — the first American gastropub at sea. This restaurant, which can also be found on Anthem of the Seas, is sure to please the hungry, thirsty passenger who’s looking to kick back and sip on some choice, homemade brews.

6. Nobu Matsuhisa: Crystal Cruises

The name “Nobu” is synonymous with some of the most famous Japanese cuisine around. And for passengers traveling on Crystal Cruises, the name’s also synonymous with the absolute freshest food options on board. In particular, guests will find Silk Road and The Sushi Bar — two Nobu restaurants — on the Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity cruise ships.

Both restaurants feature Nobu-style sushi and sashimi. And furthermore, each chef has been personally trained by Nobu, so you don’t need to worry about whether you’re getting the real thing.

7. Jacques Pépin: Oceana Cruises

Television personality, bestselling cookbook author, and celebrated French chef Jacques Pépin is the Executive Culinary Director at Oceana Cruises….
